Filtered orthogonal frequency division multiplexing for improved 5G systems

Wireless communications became an integrated part of the human life. Fifth generation (5G) is modern communication which provides enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), ultra reliable low latency (URLLC), and massive machine type (mMTC). Thus, 5G have to provide coverage multi-numerology devices, therefore, modulation access schemes are suggested in literature such as cyclic prefix orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CP-OFDM) filtered OFDM (f-OFDM). CP-OFDM suffers from high out band emission limited applications. In f-OFDM, can be suppressed accepted extent that different numerologies coexisting. On other hand, f-OFDM more improved by using a proper filtering approach. this paper three filters based windowed-sinc function; Hanning, Hamming, Blackman. Simulation results show proposed promising for spectral efficiency rejection. Furthermore, bit error rate, vector magnitude, power density further with respect scheme but some trade-off present. Overall, outperforming traditional CP-OFDM. As conclusion, windnowed-sinc no limitations on order or number subcarriers utilized system.
